Report bugs and request features
Check for duplicates first
Before you request a new feature or report a bug, please look through the other posts to make sure someone else hasn't already submitted it.
If you want to suggest a feature in Obsidian, head over to Feature requests.
If you want to report a bug in Obsidian, head over to Bug reports. Bug reports are moved to the Bug graveyard once they're resolved.

Collect debug information
When you encounter a bug or need assistance from
- Open the Command palette.
- Type Show debug info.
- Select the highlighted Show debug info option.
- Select Copy to clipboard.
- Paste the copied information into your bug report or Obsidian support email.

Check startup time
You can check how long Obsidian takes to start by using the Startup time feature.
- Open Settings → General → Advanced.
- Next to Notify if startup takes longer than expected, select the timer icon.
- A Startup time window will appear, showing detailed timing information:
- Total app startup: Overall launch time.
- Initialization: Time spent loading the app itself.
- Vault: Time to load your vault files.
- Workspace: Time to restore tabs and layout.
- Core plugins: Time used by active core plugins.
- You can select Copy to clipboard to copy the report for troubleshooting or sharing.
Additionally, you can toggle Notify if startup takes longer than expected to receive a warning if startup is unusually slow.

Capture console logs
When you need to report a bug related to an Obsidian plugin or when requested by
- Windows/Linux:
Ctrl+Shift+I - macOS:
Command+Option+I
[!info]+ Alternative access method If using the Obsidian frame Window frame style, you can also access the Obsidian console via the title menu.
Once you've opened the developer console:
- Select console in the top menu.
- Choose the errors side menu option. Any errors will be displayed as
# errors. - Select one of the red error messages.
- Choose the option to Save as... This will save all the errors in the console.
- Save the log file to your device.
- Attach the log file to your bug report or Obsidian support email.
[!warning]+ Mobile console access Mobile devices and tablets have limited access to their developer consoles. For these users, we recommend using the community plugin Logstravaganza to automatically generate the console log data in a markdown note.

Obsidian offers email support only for inquiries about commercial licenses, your account, payment, and add-on services (Obsidian Sync and Obsidian Publish). If you need help with any of those topics, email the Obsidian team.

If you've discovered a security issue in Obsidian, or if you suspect that a plugin is malicious, please email the Obsidian team.
