Workspace
Learn about the Obsidian workspace and its core components on desktop and mobile.
The workspace is the main container for all the components that make up the Obsidian interface. It consists of different elements arranged around your notes, allowing you to customize how you view and interact with your content.

Desktop
In the Obsidian desktop app the workspace includes:
- Ribbon running vertically on the left side of the app
- Sidebars on the left and right side (can be collapsed)
- Sidebar tab groups (can be split vertically)
- Sidebar tabs
- Tab groups in the central content area (can be split vertically or horizontally)
- Status bar in the bottom right corner

Mobile
In the Obsidian mobile app the workspace includes:
- Tabs managed from the tab counter in the Navigation bar
- Sidebars (opened using left and right swipe gestures)
- Navigation bar at the bottom of the screen
- Ribbon menu in the Navigation bar (contains customizable actions)
- Editor toolbar above the keyboard when editing
